Sunday July 29th, Laura Dorais & The Jazz Connection

California native Laura Dorais, who has lived in Benicia for the last 14 years, began singing professionally at 44. “I was inspired by the jazz scene in Portland, Ore. I could walk to three or four clubs in a night and hear wonderful players performing beautiful standards of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. In fact, Portland, Ore., is where I first got my jazzy feet wet," she said. See more

Come on out to the patio at Fuso for a night of food and music. 6:30-9:30pm The Jazz Connection will be playing. See YouTube video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i184T7rWQi8

YUMI & the Other Guys Return To Fuso's This Saturday, July 28th

Returning to Fuso's Patio is YUMI & the Other Guys. They rocked the place last month and we're happy to have them back this Saturday, July 28th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

Here's a bit about this group:

The History of YUMI & the Other Guys
You've just been to a see a live music event and gone away thinking, "They were okay, but I'm totally sick of hearing (insert song-name here). Imagine how much more that feeling affects really creative people who are stuck in bands playing the same old cover tunes, week after week. Okay, take it from me, it's really boring.

Well, that was us. Robert, Tim & Ron, having played Mustang Sally, Proud Mary, Folsom Prison Blues... until our ears bled. We all liked very diverse types of music: Jazz, Country, Pop (70's to today), light rock, but the bands that were available to play with all seemed to have the same setlists.

The solution?
"Let's put together a high quality band and play the 'other' songs that everyone loves but that have been really unavailable to audiences; kind of a 'B-side' project." Of course there's a reason why other bands don't play these songs. Many of them have additional instrument parts and really interesting harmonies that would be difficult to put together quickly and would require more time and commitment from the musicians. What the heck! We're up for it.

So we conducted a poll, collected a list of songs that we, our friends and family would really like to hear and got to work. Auditions, practice, more auditions, more practice. Given the needs of the music, we determined that we wanted two female vocalists that could perform both leads and harmonies (enter Brittany and Allison). This supplemented by Robert and Ron's vocals gave us the ability to do four-part harmonies. Ya' just don't find that in many cover bands. Combine great vocals with Tim's high energy bass and attention to detail, Robert's varied selection of guitars and effects and Ron's ability to program his keyboard with multiple instrument splits, arpeggiators and dynamically layered sounds, and we might just make this thing work.

Come see us and experience the YuMi difference!

Here's some info about the Beer Brothers from an article:

Wayne Rigot plays with the band 48 Straight. Bob Vollmer is a longtime musician who serves as executive director of the Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District, which organized the festival.

The two bonded over some jam sessions and as part of a band called Casualties of Friendship, so named that if one member can’t make a gig, a call goes out to other musicians on Vollmer’s friend list.

“Wayne and I just had too fun much playing together. Wayne makes me sound like a million bucks when we are playing together,” Vollmer said. The acoustic duo does original and cover tunes.
And they fit nicely into a small venue, Vollmer said, adding that he usually has a story to go along with the songs. “We want to get the crowd involved. It’s like a campfire setting,” he said.

Kevin Seeman On The Piano Tonight, July 5th At Fuso's

Don't Miss Out on the Entertainment...

Thursday, July 5th, 2012
6:30 - 9:30 pm

Kevin plays keyboards today because his mom wouldn’t let him quit classical piano lessons forty years ago. When he finally got his wish after 8 years, he found he had gotten good enough to play the music he really loved. He had worn the grooves off his first album, the British import of Introducing the Beatles. He spent his middle teen years trying to learn to play piano like Elton John. Now after spending 25 years out of the music scene to raise four kids and grasp at rungs on the corporate ladder, Kevin is back. His current influences are–to paraphrase James Taylor–Ray Charles, Ray Charles, and Ray Charles.

Kevin Seeman from the Delta King in Sacramento, formally the local Kab's Club, member of several bands including The Uncorked Blues Band, The Delta Rockets, and more will be playing piano and singing favorites at Fuso Italian Restaurant.

Come join the fun!
